XU Extract is an extraction and embellishment of a favorite childhood film created as an exorcism of nostalgia. I extracted my favorite visual seconds and wrung them out, so to speak, by creating multiple generations of the excerpts going from tv screen to digital video to computer screen to Super 8 and back to digital video. I see this as a piece that can continuously be updated with multiple versions. I can create as many generations as long as moving image formats are alive, barely staying alive and/or new ones are born. Each new generation has a small part of the first generation.
